Pep and Yaya:How it all began

When Pep Guardiola was unveiled as barça boss in the summer of 2008, he told the packed press room to fasten their seat belts, ultimately it turned out to be quite an interesting journey filled with so many memorable moments for the Catalan based club.

However, during the same summer he sanctioned the sale of both Ronaldinho and Deco. Pep was concerned about the party hard spirit  and extravagant lifestyle of both players and the effect it could have on the team especially on the young but fragile Messi. Ronaldinho for his part was on the wane but had proved his worth theprevious season, same with Deco.  Eto'o(a close ally of Ronaldinho) was wanted out also but allowed to stay because Barça could not find a replacement.

Pep wants to win and adores professionalism and team ethics.  It is for this reason he fell out spectacularly with Zlatan Ibrahimovic  who was signed to replace the previously more-than-good Eto'o who had racked up 36 goals the season prior to his arrival.

After a bright start to his camp Nou career, Zlatan fell out with the coach because he was deemed too static and was subsequently dropped. Afterwards, he claimed in his book, " I am Zlatan"  that he didn't speak much with Pep.
"I didn't have a problem with anyone," Ibrahimovic said later. "Nobody can say I did anything wrong. The first months were going so well and then something happened and I still don't know what as I'm still waiting for the answer. A few months after [the start of the year] 'the philosopher' didn't speak to me anymore." He would later leave the club after a single season.

In between, Yaya Toure left the club in the  summer of 2010 after he too fell out with the coach. After being initially deployed as a defensive midfielder in a midfield as the third player in a team consisting of spanish duo Xavi and Andres Iniesta, he was later dropped for the rather more technical and better Sergio busquets (in Pep's eyes) and Yaya often played as an unorthodox CB. Just like Zlatan, he cited a breakdown in communications  as the reason for his departure.

Upon his arrival in Manchester city he said "Whenever I asked him something, he always gave strange answers," Toure later said. "He pretty much ignored me until City's offer came in. That's why I eventually opted to leave. I didn't speak to Guardiola for a year. If he had talked to me, I would have stayed at Barcelona. I did not want to go and wanted to end my career at Barcelona. However, he had no faith in me."

The Catalan coach now at Manchester City loves to win his way and always demand passion, commitment and professionalism from his players. It is in the last of the aforementioned that the former Ivorian skipper's agent fell flat when he openly criticized Pep for leaving Toure out of the UCL squad who had demanded Pep "apologised" if they didn't win the CL title.. absolutely ridiculous! It would not be the first time the outspoken agent would be at loggerheads with the Etihad board as he had once slammed the club for not giving Yaya a birthday cake!

The recent outburst of Dmitry Seluk would not have helped Toure (who had resumed pre season training overweight alongside Nasri) in a series of spats the player's agent has aimed at the coach since the departure of the Ivorian from Barcelona. With Pep in charge, you have to simply play his way, behave his way or you are out of the team, as evidenced by the loans of Samir Nasri, Joe Hart, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfred Bony. They were simply not part of his plans.

For his part,  Yaya has been  a faithful servant of Manchester City and his arrival proved quite a masterstoke by the power brokers at the Etihad stadium, He along with City stalwarts- David Silva,  Sergio Aguero and Victor Kompany has helped put the club on the map as genuine title contenders. But the general consensus from the Etihad outfit is that at 33, he is on the wane and would be  happy to navigate a transfer for the once formidable player. But his high wage demands proved to be a stumbling block for prospective buyers.  The Manchester based club has started the season brilliantly winning their first 10 matches in all competitions without their once irreplaceable captain.

Guardiola has demanded he apologizes to the club or risk being continually left out from the squad. By doing that the City boss has put the ball in Yaya's court... so over to you Yaya!.
